Warhammer Online Release Date Pushed Back

April 26, 2007

Today the Warhammer Online monthly news letter came out, and along with some nice new screenshots of the dwarf starting area it also included the news that release date was to be pushed back to first quarter 2008. This will probably upset quite a few people. It doesn’t surprise me or upset me. Most games miss their first date and have to push back. It isn’t easy to give a realistic date when the game has just begun development.

The reasons they gave were that they finished two more starting zones and they were fantastic and in a sense made the other two that they had completed look shoddy in comparison. They are now going back to the first two zones and sprucing them up and adding more to them because they want every area of the game to be great. I think that is awesome! Instead of saying, “It’s done just leave it.” They are fixing it, so that all of the races have a great starting experience. I think it is a very good reason to push the game back, and it shows that the developers really care about the game they are putting out. All good things take time so they!

I’m really psyched about this game. I hope it turns out awesome.

I’m psyched for it too. I’ve always loved the license, and Mythic is the perfect company to bring it to fruition, but damn… I really do wish companies would just keep their mouths shut on prospective release dates until they were absolutely sure. On all fronts, not just PC or MMOs. All games… you can run the hype machine without release dates people. Nintendo knows how to, get on the bandwagon (not that Ninty’s never delayed anything *cough*Zelda*cough*, but you get the point).
